Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval - The Firehawk Wide Oval is Firestone's Ultra High Performance summer tire. These Wide Oval radial tires, were developed for high performance sports cars, coupes and sedans, and are designed to provide world-class handling, performance and durability on wet and dry roads. The Wide Oval provides some of the highest UTQGS (Uniform Tire Quality Grading System) ratings available on the market today. On the outside, the Firehawk Wide Oval features high performance silica-enhanced L.L. Carbon tread rubber compound molded into an independent-block, directional tread design to blend responsive handling along with wet and dry traction, while circumferential and lateral grooves team up to provide hydroplaning resistance. On the inside, the Firehawk Wide Oval features twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon ply to provide strength, stability and high-speed capability.
Mounting and Balancing - OE Wheel Distributors is committed to utilizing the latest innovations in the automotive industry and all balancing is performed on a Hunter Road Force Balancer GSP9700. This is the same process used in Indy and NASCAR circuits. The GSP9700 Vibration Control System extends far beyond the traditional functions of a wheel balancer. It not only solves wheel balance problems, but also “road tests” the tire/wheel assembly to eliminate virtually every variable causing vibration in relation to the tire and rim. The exclusive Road Force Measurement® System applies up to 1400 pounds (635 kg) against the tire, while rotating the wheel and tire at high speeds, thus imitating road force conditions. The loaded roller detects non-balance, radial force related vibrations caused by eccentricity and constructional variation of the tire and wheel. Unlike non-contact measurement, the roller samples the entire footprint of the tire including the sidewall’s contribution to ride quality. Road force balancing provides the best balancing available in the industry, and the Hunter GSP9700 is the most technologically advanced balancer in the Industry.
